Italianate
Description
The Italianate style was dominate from about 1850 to 1875 in the United States.
Italianate buildings are rectangular with two or three stories, low-pitched roofs with moderate to wide eaves. Areas of elaboration include windows, cornices, porches, and doorways.
Distinctive features are:
wide eaves
large brackets
tall first floor windows
low pitch hip roof
cupola
double door with glass panels
rusticated quoins
round arch
hood mold or eyebrow window heads
enriched overdoor
